How does the One-Rate Program compare? Find out why the TripleRoot One-Rate Credit Card Processing Program makes the most sense for your business and your bottom line.
It can be difficult at first to fully understand merchant account pricing. Since there is no set standard for presenting processing fees, and over a hundred different variables that go into a final rate, it may seem overwhelming. And Interchange is ALWAYS changing. To make it even more challenging, there are currently over a hundred categories of Interchange fees between Visa, MasterCard, and Discover - and this is an ever growing list!
Why all the different fees?
There are 3 factors that determine the Interchange category for any given transaction:
1. The merchant's industry type
Clothing stores, restaurants, gas stations, ecommerce, etc all receive a different rate.
2. The type of card processed
Corporate cards, traditional credit cards, rewards-based cards, debit cards, etc.
3. The method of processing the card
Swiped, keyed-in, card present, card not-present
With so many different fee structures, most merchant account processors offer a "bundled rate" with one simple percentage rate that they conveniently call a "discount." Unfortunately, bundled rate discounts do not apply to all of your transactions. Some are considered downgraded transactions. Downgraded transactions are "mid-qualified" or "non-qualified" transactions that for some reason or another did not qualify for the discount rate. Merchants are often surprised to find that "mid-qualified" and "non-qualified" transactions, which have higher rates, are more numerous than qualified transactions in a bundled rate program. And since the specific criteria for a "qualified" transaction are rarely reported, it is very difficult to determine why the bulk of your transactions are downgraded in the first place.
It's all too common to find the following bundled rate:
- Advertised: One low rate of 1.68%
- Qualified Rate: 1.68%
- Mid-Qualified Rate: 2.87%
- Non-Qualified Rate: 3.07%
A confused merchant may not understood why he signed up for the discount of 1.68%, but most of his transactions are being processed at a much higher rate.
Isn't there a better way to do business?
Yes - with the TripleRoot One-Rate Program!
The One-Rate Program offers the same rate for EVERY merchant, no matter the industry. This One Rate is the same for EVERY transaction, no matter what card was used or how the card was processed. TripleRoot offers wholesale-like rates that are easy to understand and unmatched by bundled programs!
With our One-Rate Program, TripleRoot only adds 10 basis points and a 10¢ transaction fee above the credit card company's Interchange rates. That means your rates will fairly reflect the hundred different Interchange categories - with NO surprises. Since the credit card company's rates range from 0.75% to 3.25%, why would you ever agree to a one-size-fits-all bundled rate for which many of your transactions won't even qualify?
See our Interchange chart for a list of the varying fees.
Other merchant account processing companies have caught on to adding a simple rate and transaction fee to the wholesale Interchange rate. But NO ONE else offers rates as low as the One-Rate Program, and NO ONE else offers a way to completely eliminate credit card processing fees and turn them into lifetime residual income! Other processors charge an average of 15 to 25 basis points on top of Interchange. TripleRoot has seen friends, merchants, and partners charged as much as 50-88 basis points in the past!
So take heed. Look at your reports. Know what you're paying. And get ready to pay less and turn fees into revenue with TripleRoot!
What if you're perfectly content with your existing rates?
Even if you don't want to give up your bundled rate, TripleRoot would still be happy to match your current rate and give you the opportunity to eliminate credit card processing fees entirely and earn residual income! Learn about our Merchant Partner Program (MP).
